Just watched a wonderful tribute to Barbara Windsor, tonight on BBC One ::::

Samantha Spiro was marvellous as Babs. I first saw her in the National Theatre playing Windsor years ago, and she is better then ever.

Nick Moran as her Dad, and Zoe Wanamaker as Joan Littlewood were unsurpassed.

Thank God for the Beeb !

Don't miss it Minty....its been the highlight of my week !

Bad week then Mikey ?
Just read trt's link and totally agree with it. I can only say I thought it was a weird load of rubbish and turned it off after 15 minutes. It would have been a lot earlier but my hands were in the washing up bowl! Sorry Mikey
The whole film was , forgive me for saying, very 'laboured'.

I struggled with it and gave up about half way through.

Hans.

She was imo a one-trick pony with little if any entertainment value.
I personally think this woman is vastly overrated, so wouldn't consider watching it !
I agree with Mikey, I though it was a brilliant drama.

One of those programs where I say "I wish I had written that".

I loved the structure of it (which seems to have confused a lot of people) with the "older" Barbara watching her life go by in a sort of flashback.

Some scenes were very moving (I wont give any spoliers away) but it would certainly surprise many people that Barbara was nominated for both a Bafta in the UK for her theatre work and a Tony for her theatre work in the USA.

Don't go by all the negative comments, watch it and make your own mind up.
Really enjoyed it Mikey, Samantha Spiro was just brilliant!
