Were the entries restricted to ex-X Factor contestants or is Simon Cowell involved in the process this year?

Did I hear somewhere the winner has to host it following year, if so could that be the reason we don't seem interested in winning?
it was the best of the pre-selected though
It was the best performance and song available from the pre selected.

Baldric, the winner always hosts, considering how much money the UK puts into it as one of the founding 5 I don't think that's an issue.

The UK will never win due to politics.
awful awful screeching !! I do better in the shower !!
Et tu Islay??
I didn't have you down as one of the Balkan block vote brigade xx
Ichkeria,

I love the Eurovision but I am not blinkered
I quite like Eurovision but Britain doesn't do badly because of political voting. There has always been political voting. Arguably it was worse in the 'good old days' when a few western nations 'boom bang a banged' and 'ding donged' cozily to each other and the good old U.K. seemed to win every other year. Then they allowed in the great unwashed who 'didn't understand democracy' according to Terry Wogan and the rest is a sordid tale of upstart nationsthat have no right to exist always winning . Except that previous recent dinners have included Germany, Sweden (twice) Norway etc.
So there is a little political voting by reinstated juries no doubt and a huge amount of partisanship (but would a lot of us vote for our own entry if we could?) in the post Brexit world maybe Lithuania will no longer get the most votes from the UK and it'll go back to being Ireland again.
My only criticism is that it is too damn big. Australia got in the back door and seems to be refusing to leave. At this rate the voting is going to last until Sunday morning.
OK everyone is entitled to their opinion but it will be interesting to see how we do this year!
Murraymints,
You in the shower would be an interesting entry, water on or off ?
That was I was thinking. I'm not sure that approach has been tried yet :-)
Agree with ichkeria, the contest has just got too big. There's no reason why it shouldn't be split into two - east and west. There has to be heats, over two programmes, to see which countries get into the final! We, along with about four other of the original countries put money in every year so we, and they, go through automatically. If it wasn't for that we wouldn't have been in the final for several years, I don't think.
Terrible weak tuneless song in my opinion. Will be lucky to get NIL POINTS!

on Donny..always on !! tee hee !!
Murraymints,
I have never watched Eurovision but would be willing to make an exception.
tee hee..can I keep my flip flops on ?
There already are heats of course roopower.
I would not want to see it split up. There are actually quite a few countries eligible to take part who don't. The problem really is that all countries get to vote in the final, tho not sure you can really limit it
Sorry I misunderstood your post roo.
Any high heel flip-flops ?
//It will be lucky to get nil points!//

What's worse than nil points? There is no where to go after nil points?
