If a family member, who is in debt with a credit card company, moves out of the family home, is it the home address that gets flagged up on credit checks or the name of the debtor ?

The name of the debtor.

The name of the debtor with his/her address as recorded by the creditor. It should not affect others at the same address

Thank you both.
everyone thinks it is the address
but it is the debtor

BC has given good advice on this previously - like a few years ago
and there is mention of a letetr of dissociation

https://www.debtadvisorycentre.co.uk/blog/what-is-a-notice-of-disassociation-0-4113-0

however if you read it
it becomes clear you dont need one

letters to addresses of fled tenants who fled in debt - often in debt to me as well - often get opened by children who mill around in their hundreds
and that allows me as a landlord to read them and write to the companies
and tell them the debtor has flown and a new tenant - usually of a nervous disposition (!) is IN

If they come calling - I think you have ( since the address has been given as a residential address ) to prove you are nt them. I dont think it is a duty it just makes life easier for you. If it is a girl - I think you can say - I am obviously not her.
Make sure CT utilities and electoral rolls do not mention the party ( or show a date of leaving )

as you can see - much easier to say I am not in debt
than ..... the debtor who lived here has gone....

good luck - debt is a pain in the arras - but at least you can say 'well it is not me!"
