Wonderful! Just wonderful! I don't know what I was expecting, just knew there would be quality there, but this was life and people in an epoch which included and produced us and the UK as it is I would campaign (and may do so if I can get support) to have this shown to 13 yr. olds in schools - it covers so much and says more than any white paper about what it is to be human,...

Yes, really enjoying it.
Recording it - a real treat.

Funny with added pathos. So many Abers will find it so close to "home". I do.
I'm also recording it.
I've got the book. I'm so glad to hear it's been done well, or brilliantly as Togo puts it. It deserves to be.
Raymond Briggs' beautiful and touching tribute to his parents
Well worth watching.
I really enjoyed it, although I did not expect to. Well done!

Beautifully made film and a perfect tribute to his parents. A simple story but told with such wonderful atmosphere by Briggs. He did well at art college after all didn't he!
It was wonderful - brought back so many memories of my own parents.
Really emotional - I admit I cried at the end (and welled up a few other times too!)
A beautiful tribute to Ethel and Ernest
So angry with myself, I wanted to record it and forgot, hope it's repeated ...
It was lovely...It's on BBC IPlayer for the next 29 days.
Wonderful, a fitting tribute to his parents. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my son (36) who was tickled by the way things used to be. A joy to watch.

Jourdain could not agree more. "She who must be obeyed" is just about to watch it on catch up. I will have a cuppa ready for her at the end. Her mother passed away earlier this year, and it may be close to home at the end.
Loved it, but what made it so special that is was set in the area I grew up in and he went to the same schools I attended. And the area was recognisable by the drawings. Brought back many memories. A beautiful film. My best Christmastime viewing.
Just ordered the video which comes out next week.
How great you could identify with the story so fully Nellie.
It was Mamya. Just wish my Mum and Dad could have seen it. It brought back door many memories.
So many memories!
