Recently went to a family wedding and the food was luke warm we complained the food was not hot the following morning. We were offered a good will gesture but declined. We said we want money compensation as it was an expensive venue and expected better service. We have not taken to social media but as of yet no response yet. Has anyone experience a similar incident?

What was the good will gesture?

How many guests?
i don't really get it - isn't the food at weddings usually paid for by the person hosting the wedding? If there's any compensation to have it will be up to that person won't it, rther than individual guests??
What sort of food was it? what was the good will gesture?
also, why did ou wait till the following morning - the venue may have been able to do something at the time, but they cant turn back time

Two night stay + food for 6 supposedly worth £1500.this is of no value as it would be in the pits of winter months and no net cost to them business.
Did write the same as you bednobs as was confused but deleted,

Hello Ummmmm how are you? x
I would say a 2 night stay and food for 6 was a very good offer. No matter what time of year. I would grab it.
even more confused now
So you want more than £1,500 compensation?

Hi Cherry xx
I am also curious as to why you as a guest are complaining, it should be up to the people who booked the wedding. Or did each guest pay for their own food?
Your thread is a bit light on detail but from what you have posted, I'd say your attitude is a bit shocking.

You didn't tell the venue at the time but once you had told them the following morning (when they were unable to verify what you claimed) they offered a good-will gesture in any case.....but that's not good enough for you.

Why will getting money back make up for your spoilt day?
And I find it hard to believe that luke warm food would spoil a day.

Surely we all eat luke warm food unless you can finish your dinner in seconds.
the venue will have a net cost for the good will gesture, 2 night stay and food for 6 people, which means they will not be able to rent the rooms out that you take up, 6 people eating means they will have 6 less seats at dinner time for paying guests? so yes i think the good will gesture considering it was not your wedding was way over being fair. Good on them i do not think i would contact you again after giving you that offer when things could not have been proved the next morning. It certainly would not have spoilt the day.
Was all the food lukewarm, throughout the two day break?
I think they were offered a 2 day break as a good will gesture which they turned down.
You are right, Ummmm. I didn't read it properly. Trying to do two things at once ;-)
If the food being luke warm was such a big problem it should have been mentioned at the time. Then there was a chance to rectify things. It is hardly fair to say something next day. They have offered you compensation which sounds generous to me and you have turned it down. THE END.
We chose our local pub as the venue for my mum's wake, as we had had a lovely lunch there shortly before.
The food (at the wake) was terrible. Paper plates, bits of veg, greasy roast potatoes, yicky sausages.

My sister wrote a letter to the place afterwards, but didn't hear back. Put it down to experience and don't go there again.

Firstly I and the grooms mother paid for the wedding. There were in excess of 80 guests. Only when people were leaving the venue we made aware of how many had a cold meal so we could not have told them sooner if I wanted a cold buffet main meal I would have asked for one,The gesture they offered was only available when they had spare rooms so no loss net cost, the food I do not know if was a hot or cold meal that was offered! It's just turned out my only daughter had a let down on her wedding by the food @ around £80 per head the venue should be ashamed. Thanks for your replies good or bad.
How upset is your daughter?
