OK I suppose but they are getting far too full of themselves imo. Too many in jokes and cannot seem to decide whether they are in a drama or a comedy. The idea to play it in period costume looked good on paper and at times was but ultimately a disappointment.

I was expecting a one off episode but anyone not familiar with the series and its back story would have struggled to understand it. Just think it would have been better without all the 'in' joking which to be honest masked a pretty thin story.
Fair point well made
I can see why some may not like it, I find the whole quirky spin a refreshing change in much the same way as the recent Jekyll and Hyde series.

All the originals that stay close to the original are out there to view if people want them , but this is fresh.

Its not they updating of the stories that bugs me. To have Sherlock use and embrace I phones/ E mails etc is a great idea and the quick camera angles emphasising the genius of his mind work particularly well. What however was the point of the female pathologist dressed as a man in the Victorian story? Why was Mycroft overeating? And, my greatest annoyance, what is the point of Mary? other than to provide something of a cushy job for Mrs Freeman? I'm a real grump aren't I ?? Ha ha.
The pathologist was dressed as a man because it would have been nigh on impossible for her to do the job as a woman in Victorian times.
I thought it boring, tedious and a load of rubbish. I kept on watching it to see if it would get any better as I know people rave about this series. I won't be watching it again. To each his own.
It was (or was it?) a trip, a drug induced dream sequence really, for all there remains unanswered points within I still love it.
It looked like it might be something of a marmite show -- I enjoyed it, but it was quite zany to say the least. Ah well!
No show should take itself too seriously. And it is full of comic actors!
i liked it :)
i struggled to follow the plot. it was so confusing
Love marmite
I enjoyed every bit of it.
It was really really awful. Such a total bore. Just a load of old tosh. Women's lib 1910s stylee! And women dressed as men to get ahead. Ooooh crikey matron! Where are the smelling salts! Oooh Lordy! Lordy! I feel so giddy.

Like yuk. Who cares! The men in Cologne did not!!

Take the writers and cast and bury the programme forever. The first one or two of the new style were fine but once we got that camp as christmas Moriarty we knew were walking off a cliff/waterfall?
