/// Meanwhile, family members in the UK have issued a statement, pleading for their relatives to return, ///

/// It said: 'We are devastated by the disappearance of these 12 and are very concerned for their safety. ///

/// 'This is completely out of character and we are very worried of the danger they may now be in. ///

/// 'Muhammed Abdul Mannan is elderly and both he and Minera Khatun have health issues. ///

/// This just does not make any sense. We can only think they have been tricked into going there, it is no place for elderly or young people. ///

Tricked, radicalised????????????????

When are they going to stop making excuses for them, they know perfectly what they are doing, it is in their mindset.

Got rid of, but to what overall effect? To return as terrorists?
Question Author
They would already have the terrorist instinct, so much better for them to be terrorist abroad.

At least it will be much harder for them to come back to these shores, than planning while they are already here.
Which begs the question, If they're already radicalised why not stay and do Isis's work here?
AOG...they went on a family holiday to their home country. There is a good chance the grandparents, and even the wives, didn't know what was going on. The children certainly didn't.

I thought that this was their 'Home Country'?

And you would have preferred them to do that?
I thought the UK was their "home country".

They seem to have businesses, work and ongoing health treatment here. Some of the children were born here and, apart from this sojourn, they seem to be settled here for the foreseeable future. It might help if they decided where their "home country" really is. It would then help them decide where their allegiance should properly lie.
I feel it is a very cruel thing if they have tricked the older members of the family and as for the children , I cannot put into words how I feel about what they are purported to have done.

From what family members said in news reports, Muhammed Abdul Mannan was the elder, and in such a position the whole family went to him for leadership and advice.

So perhaps he is the guilty one, and knows perfectly well what is going on.

Agree with you about the youngsters though, they had no choice, but if they do come back will their parents face child cruelty charges, methinks not.
Pardon my pedantry but......might HAVE, not might of.

I shall obtain my gaberdine......

Or perhaps gabardine.
I'm so glad Chilly got in there, cos I would have been compelled to, at some point.....;)
//Pardon my pedantry but......might HAVE, not might of. //

And your suggestion as to what happened is ?
Ok...it's something I say. If I'm going back to Ireland I say I'm going home and so do my children who were born in England.
And your suggestion as to what happened is ?
---------------
My suggestion is that a grammatical error was made in the OP, nothing more.
"And you would have preferred them to do that?"

Of course not. But given your opinion that they have the terrorist instinct it just seems a bit daft that they've gone away from their target. I thought someone might have had some theories as to why.

Since some have chosen to turn this into some sort of an English lesson, shouldn't that be 'because'?
Yes aog ....you are quite right...many apologies.
