OK, I'm back with the answer.
It was very trivial Mamyalynne.
In the first round, in the first leg, it had got as far as the fourth couple, and when the guy answered, Alexander commented "That seems to have got approving looks from the rest of the contestants" (or words to that effect), and for a brief moment in order to illustrate this the scene cut to a wide shot of all the contestants - but their score panels all bore the legend "Pointless", not their scores so far. The editor presumably cut in the wrong piece.
At least that's how I saw it, but it was very brief and I wasn't paying much attention, so I could be mistaken.
Incidentally, the question was "Name a US state not containing the letter O".

Maybe that was the only decent clip they had of the whole panel.
I have seen this sort of "lazy" editing in football matches.
I once saw the highlights of a football match on TV. A player went off and was substituted, then a few minutes later I saw the same player on the pitch.
Also often when they cut to the scene of a manager on the touchline it is often from a different period in the match.
I think this sort of editing goes on all the time, but often we don't notice it.
Maybe that was the only decent clip they had of the whole panel.
