very very flimsy evidence too, based on an eye witness spotting when the victim was baking a pie that subsequently killed her, mrs bates the ist apparently killed herself by poinoning the pie she baked in the hope that her husband would be convicted of her death.

The Bates story has got silly as well as boring IMO. It's dragged on too long.
