I don't know what the paradise is but i've been to Beamish, we had our photo taken in victorian costume and it was a sepia effect.

Sorry Dotty, The Paradise is the new 8 part series just starting on BBC 1. It looks as if it could be Beamish Village but I can only find that it is se in the North East.
It's a bit disjointed isn't it?
As em10's link says, it's filmed on the Lambton estate, one of the first to be made there since they've recently opened it up to film and TV productions. Unfortunately, I don't think it's open to the public - not since Lambton Lion Park closed many years ago! I can remember going there several times when I was younger.
Any early revues? Is it worth following up?
I think it has possibilities but scenes just sort of happened and conversations seemed to start up from nowhere then finish just as abruptly.

I think it's got promise!

I gave it a go but it was dismal. Wherever it was filmed, it was very much a stage set, and not realistic at all. Clean streets with no one in them etc.

Shame it had such a good cast, but very little substance.

I fell asleep after 5 minutes :)
I tried to stick with it as I like Matthew McNulty but gave up before the end. Just not interesting enough for me.
It was ok - hopefully episode two will improve - was the young dark girl in Lark Rise to Candleford?
Yes she was.
It's set somehwere betwen Durham and Newcastle I think? I thought it was great! Nice light entertainment for a cold wet night. Costumes great.......... will be watching next week.

Watched it hoping something would happen, and definitely could have done with subtitles to explain what was happening. At the end I was left wondering what the hell was all that about? It could have been so much better, I felt it was just a cliche.
The outside street locations certainly looked like Beamish to me
