why is this poor woman putting herself through this ???? Can't she see that every one of them is taking the pi** out of her , they have no desire or intention of learning anything ,they are acting like spoilt 4 year olds who seriously need to sit on the naughty step !!! At the start of the programme she said she had met many travellers over the years and wanted to give something back but is this really what they need ???

glenis, I would think she is getting paid by Channel 4 a fee for doing the programme, despite her keep saying she is out of pocket looking at her bank statement.

I also think Channel 4 are paying for all the taxis taking them girls to and from the factory.

Watched this programme on two occasions and was left wondering how much was made up for the cameras, as for Thelma going broke, she must have been trading on a very tight budget, which I also find strange considering how she is always supposed to be busy, and the price of the dresses. Got my doubts that it's all truthful.

Also if you study when Thelma came back to the factory supposedly having been off due to being sick. Do you not think her daughter and her best friend would have been on the phone during the absence informing her of what was happening. Definitely stage-managed.

Thelma makes a huge amount of money out of the wedding dresses she makes - but what else could she give them? Most are illiterate and have no career ambitions.

I don`t feel sorry for Thelma. I don`t feel sorry for the traveller girls. But I sure feel sorry for her existing staff (who have made her fortune for her). I think it`s pretty unfair on them to inflect those girls on them.

Have to agree with SJ - her poor staff having to put up with the flack and deal with these "girls" is awful. I think that all the hype is purely for the camera and as for the travelling community, imo it puts them exactly where a lot of people think they are, they don't do themselves any favours do they? One question is...if they don't work, how do they afford the dresses....64 dollar question methinks!

it's very clear from watching 1 programme that they only turned up for interview to be on telly.
I would guess that Thelma is all very well wanting to give girls a different life, but actually none of them really want a different life

Yeah, in our world we have to pay tax & NI.
Loved the episode where Thelma was explaining about deductions & the girl was looking at her as if she has two heads. She didnt know what tax & NI was.

I also feel sorry for he staff, especially when Thelma went sick & left them all to it!
