John Cooper Clarke

Did anyone watch the prog about him yesterday?
I was aware of him but am not overly familiar with his work, I am going to look out for more of his writing etc as I enjoyed the programme.

I didn't, but I've probably seen it before as I'm a huge fan. He's terrific live, if you ever get the chance...
Agree - seen him many time over the years, both solo and (on one epic night at the Manchester Apollo) with the Invisble Girls.

I remember seeing him live back in the 70's, usually supporting a punk or indie band. Remember, in those days, poetry was not as widely accepted as it is now, so he took quite a risk with punk audiences, although, as he says, they were easier than working-mens' club crowds!

I've always loved his nasal Mancunian accent, and his poetry, and delivery of it, are wonderful.
