I have a Sony tv with freeview and freesat installed on the tv. I do not have a recorder at the moment and would like to get one with freesat on it. Would I need an extra cable running from my freesat dish or would the original one that is attached to the tv aerial socket be okay. Presume I would have to get the humax one with freesat installed, also I believe this has catchup tv as a feature, and use this as my freesat receiver rather than the tv. Would it be possible to watch freeview and record on freesat at the same time. Finally, would it be easy to install. Many thanks for any advice.

Isn't the cable from a satellite dish different to a standard TV ariel? Sounds like you have a standard ariel connection at present so where is your dish cable?

I have an ordinary cable for freeview from the aerial and a satallite dish cable, both of which are plugged into two different aerial sockets on the tv.
Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Two Sat cables from dish to Humax box, Freeview Arial to Humax box, HDMi cable from Humax box to T/V.

Thanks very much whiskeryron, think I will get a youview box instead, see you can record from it and saves having to get the aerial man in to run another sat. cable.
OK, you will of course not receive Freesat with it which is what your original post asked for.
