Poor Linda - I really thought she had found him. Glad they're carrying on with the storyline, anyway.

You're joking?

They haven't found it yet?
I have just seem a Facebook post saying "Scruff is alive". I have no idea what or who Scruff is but he is seemingly alive.

Come on scruff, please come home!
I really thought that we would have a happy ending last night. Poor Linda !
I am a dog lover and I know what it is to lose a much loved animal. But surely she would have had Scruff microchipped ?

I'm sure Scruff must be out there somewhere. Also, Linda would have him microchipped - but they can occasionally fail (happened to a friend of mine whose show dog couldn't travel to Cruft's!). Come ON scriptwriters, get on with finding him - and anyone in the area leave out dog biscuits!
I bet Rob Titchener had a hand in Scruff's disappearance.
It, Talbot?? IT??? Scruff not an It! Have some sensitivity for our loss please.

Still hoping, at least he hasn't been forgotten.

Explanation for wolf63: Scruff is a dog that is the pet of a character in the radio soap The Archers. Scruff went missing some weeks ago, I think it was when Ambridge was being flooded by torrential rains. Scruff's owner, Linda, is very attached to the dog, and was - is still - very distressed that Scruff has disappeared. She has put the word out to various animal rescue centres about Scruff, and, in the latest episode, she thought that a rescue centre had found Scruff, but she was disappointed to find that the dog that they had got was not Scruff.
We mustn't forget that Scruff used to belong to Shula, but she gave him to Linda on a free transfer, because he upset the horsies, a hanging event to Shula ! Since then he has a very loving home with Linda, who I now feel very sorry for.

Gosh, Mikey, you do know your Archers. I didn't remember that.
Hellywelly....I have been listening to the Archers for over 30 years, so I guess I have built up quite a bit of knowledge over the years !

How old is this blessed dog!!!!!
I can't remember ever not listening to the Archers. My mum had it on from the beginning - I can't remember much from the early years though and misses a lot when I was in my teens and early twenties. It's just one of those things that is part of my life.
jourdain2...me too ! Each day I work towards 19:02, and a cocktail !

I am old enough to remember listening to Mrs Dale's Diary !

Thank you bookbinder. I hope that Scruff returns and that he is the original Scruff and they haven't changed actors.

Wolfie....always a possibility with the Archers I'm afraid !
Maybe a Yorkshire Wolfhound Mikey.

The little B that I live with is refusing to take his Prednisolone. Tablets + Cats are a bad mix.
Question Author
Mikey - what about Dick Barton, Special Agent. That preceded the Archers. I was about 10. Such a long time ago....
Wolfie....before I had Willy, I used to have a cat. In fact, at one point in the
mid 80's, I actually had three cats, which was at least 2 too many. They would gang up on me when I came home from work and insist on being fed straight away. I tried to ignore this but it proved impossible...with one cat, I might have stood a chance but with 3 it was just too difficult ! So I would be standing in the kitchen, with my coat still on, spooning out the Kitekat !

As for feeding them their tablets, I will agree that its a toughie. I would sometimes be able to crush the tablet up into a powder and mix it with some Marmite, or some very strong cheese. Other times I would have to resort to having someone hold the bally thing and I would push the tablet down its throat ! But then they would throw it up again !

Willy is altogether more amenable. The Marmite trick always works !
hellywelly4...I remember sitting on the carpet, listening to "Round the Horn", and laughing at Julian and Sandy so much, that I might pee myself ! Of course, I wasn't all that sure exactly what was funny, only that it was !

Ditto with the Clitheroe Kid, which was my absolute favourite. We were a radio-only family, until I was about 9, so I have always been a BBC fan, which is why I get very heated when the Beeb is criticised, as it is elsewhere on AB at the moment !

Long live the Beeb !
