Travelling back from Oxford to Derbyshire yesterday around 5.30 pm, we turned on the radio hoping for Paul O'Grady only to get what I later learned was a concert. All Mr & Q and I heard was a woman - Emily somebody or other - singing for and hour. Did not like ther songs at all, constantly repeating a line of the song til I switched back and forth to other stations continually going back to radio 2 but she was still singing. We like to listen to Radio 2 when travelling for the news (there was none while we travelled 5.30 to 7pm) and more importantly the travel news, again there was none. The roads were very busy and is would have been nice to be up to date with any info.

It was Emeli Sande and it was the Hyde Park concert that Radio 2 were broadcasting. I think interrupting a concert with travel news would have upset Emeli Sande fans. She is pretty famous and featured heavily in the Olympics ceremonies

I unserstand what you're saying factor30, I just wish that somewhere on BBC radio there was some traffic reports - they could have done it on radio 4 surely.
Did you get stuck anywhere? it is just possible there was nothing to report.

No Baldric luckily we had a decent drive but the roads were really busy. It's good to know if something has happened futher along the journey in case we need to avoid it.
i would press the TR button on my stereo and get all local travel reports whenever!
