Weakest Link...............................

Can you settle an arguement about how the show works regarding the £1000.

What happens if the next person doesn`t bank it, will the questions keep coming and the money carries on going up or will the questions keep coming but no money?

Many thanks

Neither, the round is finished and the money is banked and the questions stop.
from what I have seen, if they dont bank the 1000 then it remains at 1000 and questions continue to be asked until someone banks. It does not add any more money once it reaches 1000

Thanks cazz, I`m sure i`ve seen episodes where they reach the £1000 and then vote off the person who banked even though no-one got a question wrong
Lakitu is wrong, as cazzz1975 says, the questions keep coming until someone does bank. But what cazz did not mention is that if anyone answers a question wrong, the whole lot is lost - I have seen it happen!!!
If everyone gets it right and nobody banks, then the round ends when they reach £1000.
no it doesn't, they have to bank to get the money
You are wrong boxtops, the round does not end until someone banks.
sorry, bibbledub, you beat me to it!!
What baffles me (and it doesn't take a lot) is.....when the first round is over, £1000 is banked, and Anne asks for the Weakest Link in the round, the voice-over always tells you who the strongest and weakest links are. How can there be a strongest or weakest link if they all answered their questions correctly?
I assume the first weakest link is based on time to answer, hesitation and whether they banked early.
And the strongest link, I guess is the person who banks, meaning its an advantage to have a name beginning with A.
Even if all players answer correctly, anyone answering more questions is judged to be stronger.
If all the questions are answered correctly and the £1000 is banked, then the person who banked, is the strongest link and the weakest link is always the second person to be asked a question. The reason for this is because IF they had banked (which they hadn't) they would have only banked £20, whereas if anyone else banked, they would have banked over £20.
Notice that the voice-over always says that they are statistically, the weakest link, so it doesn't matter if someone has hesitated, the second person is statistically the weakest link.
How the contestants vote is a different matter.
