children's TV series

There was a UK TV series in the 90s for children. They were narated fairy tale style stories. I think it was called something like the Storey teller, or the storey teller and the ring? In the introduction there is an animation of a crow flying off with a ring.

There was a show called the storyteller. I recall John hurt was in it and a fake dog - don't recall a crow in the titles but I think the theme lyrics when something like "in england I am John, in Germany I am Johann"
