I heard ages ago that David Tennant was not going to do anohter series but havent heard anything about who will be the new doctor, if there will be one.

I for one will suffer withdrawal symptoms from not seeing David Tennant every Saturday :( lol

My boyfriend thinks Marlon from Emmerdale would make a good doctor!

I heard that DT has already filmed several one off Dr Who specials for next year.... he's not gonna regenerate. However if he does, I'm sure it'll be one of the greatest best kept secrets on tv EVER !

I agree - how would they have kept that secret? It's huge!

Just been trying to find out more and apparently (according to The Sun) he leaves at the end of the next series along with Russell T Davies?

all of the doctors so far have had very very different personalities, and this one has been my favourite of the ten tv docs so far.

copied from the other thread in TV...

IF there is to be a new doctor, I find it hard to imagine that the secret has been kept so well. Also, given that there are supposed to "specials" and not a new series, I find it hard to think they would do that with a risky new doctor. Also again, I am sure I read in the paper that DT is being paid mega bucks to stay in the role, so I think there are a few more twists yet.

From what I heard DT is taking a year out for theatre etc - maybe Rose and the power of the Tardis in her, can stop the regeneration?! I don't think he will regenerate, it was all a bit quick and sudden, no build up or suspense. It seemed a bit of a throw away moment.

How about Richard Coyle for the next Dr Who

He was Jeff in Coupling.

After all, Steven Moffat, who wrote Coupling is taking over as script editor from Russell T Davies.

My guess is the current doctor will regenerate into David Morrissey (there's been much speculation about DM).

Part of the overflow regeration energy will hit the severed hand which will regenerate back into David Tennant.

2 doctors.
