Film title

Here's another poser for you experts.

Almost sure to be American, B&W, probably c 50 year old. perhaps set in S America or a hot country; It opened in a club committee room where secret voting was taking place over a proposed new member. He was blackballed by one person only.

Next scene, a committee member, a friend of the proposed man, said to him. "Sorry, you were blackballed". Then the camera shot showed the speaker had a white ball in his hand.

What was all this about?

blackballing was part of the Mason's way of introducing and voting in or out a new member. Not sure whay this was shown in a film set in the USA
This is a tradition throughout the world involving Freemasonry, it is actually beans rather than balls they use but is commonly known as blackballing. Everyone is given a black and white bean and they have to vote secretly - if they want the person in they put a white bean in the bag and if not a black bean. No matter how many people are voting even if there is only one black bean the person cannot get in and are never told who voted for them or how many. Hope this makes sense!
