It was reported earlier in the week by the BBC that Brian Matthews had died, but this was not true, sadly though, he has died today. He was a big influence on me as a DJ since I was a teenager, and I was still listening to him on a Saturday morning until he stopped broadcasting in January. He will be missed. R.I.P Brian Matthews. x

that's a shame. I loved that old-time music he played
RIP Brian Matthews.
A bit insensitive of the BBC to announce it when it hadn't happened.
He will indeed be missed. Sad news.
RIP Brian, you leave us happy memories.
Saturday mornings will never be the same again - two hours of sheer pleasure. His breadth of knowledge was legendary. RIP Brian x

ZM, the BBC was told by his family that he'd died and thought this was sufficient authority for broadcasting it. Somehow the family changed their minds. I have no idea what was going on, but I don't think the BBC were at fault.

Sad news, RIP Brian.
He will be sadly missed, Saturday mornings just don't seem the same without the great Brian Mathew
R I P.
RIP Brian. His Sounds of the Sixties programme was the only programme I listened to almost every week for around 20 years. He clearly loved his music and he introduced me to/reminded me of many great tracks from that era.
That is sad news, RIP Brian.
