Hope someone can help we've read the booklet back to front several times and can't find any reference.

We had one of the usual, annoying, cuts in electricity a couple of months ago. Usually everything goes back to normal, but you are landed with resetting oven-timers etc. Normally the phone has just carried on happily, it's a BT 4500.

Now the base flashes an 'F' sign in red instead of letting us know if we have messages. I've searched on the internet, but am getting nowhere and there is positively no reference to this in the booklet. It all still works and beeps if we have an answerphone message, but doesn't show it on the base.

Anyone got any bright ideas as to how to get back to normal?

Your recorded calls memory (not MESSAGES) is full. Scroll through menu until "recorded calls" appear. I had to play each one (or start to) then delete one by one. I just have and the red "F" has gone. Good luck.

Does the flashing 'F' not just mean that your Memory is full. Delete all messages on the base and then re-register your handset to the base.
The last time I had a BT phone was in the 90s - so I'm just guessing here.
Also take batteries out and reinsert them.
Yes, your memory is full. I have the same problem because my delete button does not work any more. Will have to buy a new phone.

Thank you both, I'll have a go. I can't think that the memory will be full, because we get few messages and I've never had more than 3 in the messagerie, that I know of. I'd gone to bed when you answered last night.

I'll get back with the result. :)

Oh wow! Will do, thank you so very much in advance for remembering this. It has been so difficult without an answerphone. :)
