First the Oscars then the BAFTAS now the Brits, maybe just maybe there are no black artists worthy of an award this year, Organisers of the awards announced plans for a new advisory committee to help them more effectively
acknowledge diverse talent.

http://news.sky.com/story/1648078/embarrassing-lack-of-diversity-at-brits

this from the article, "lack of recognition for artists including Krept and Konan, Stormzy and Little Simz."

Who are are Krept, Konan, Stormzy and Little Simz?,

what happened to Luther Vandross, Alexander O'Neil, Lionel Richie, all three have probably sold millions and million more records the three above, perhaps their music is not that POPular.

heres the winners from the 2015 MOBO's any one spot anything?

SP, //There are plenty of great British black musicians, producers and singers. // Doubtless, and two of them were recognised. There are plenty of white people in the profession who weren’t on the list either. They can’t all be winners. //Organisers of the awards have announced plans for a new advisory committee to help them more effectively...

Not enough bald people with scruffy beards for my liking. Who do I write to?
Frank Zappa once made an oblique reference to Classical as "White Person Music".

What you hear on the radio typically stems from *** spirituals, via the blues to R&B, country, thence to rock'n'roll and all the genres which stemmed from that.

Therefore, other than pre-WWI white folk music, ALL modern music is of black origin.

Any white faces in the MOBOs?

Not being a great fan of pop music, the "Brits" could invent any act they like and I would be none the wiser.

These so-called awards are just self-congratulation, by the already over-praised.

Andy warhol right.
Breaking Bad sounds like a fart to be at the Oscars.....
Put "was" in between Warhol and right.
Given that this an arts subject and therefore likely to apply to the more liberal-minded - perhaps the black actors were simply not good enough? As easy as that.
Not enough LGBT nominees, poor show IMHO......
nah, where were the anti-Christs, those with only one testicle and representation from the Bhutan film industry - second only to those from North Korea?

Luther Vandross died a decade ago.

Alexander O'Neal last released an album six years ago.

Lionel Richie's last album was released in 2012.

Therefore, there is scant reason for any of them to be nominated in 2016.

The different with the Brits and MOBOs is that both awards celebrate diversity. With artists such as Rihanna, Drake, Beyonce, (the ever excellent) Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, D'Angelo, The Weekend and Skrillex producing some of their strongest work in a while, the music awards really don't have anything to concern themselves with.

Getting back to the MOBOs - the difference between that awards and (say) the Oscars is the significant number of white acts who are nominated and win.

I think that is partly due to the fact that in the UK, we have a much greater degree of crossover (where you will have Ed Sheehan, Amy Winehouse, Jess Glynne and Sam Smith working in pop and club/urban collaborators).

The MOBOs reflect that.

Like the Brits, its probably fair to say that there have not been a significant number of white MOBO winners this year for the same reason there hasn't been a significant number of black nominees at the Brits...

...release schedules.

I would be very surprised, looking at the quality of their last albums if we didn't see some serious representation from Laura Mvula, Emeli Sande, MNEK and Andreya Triana.

It's simply a matter of timing.

Incidentally - best Brits show in absolute years.

I was bowled over with Bjork winning Best International Female, and Coldplay's win for Best British Band.

Thoroughly deserved.

And Lorde smashed it on the Bowie tribute.

All in all...surprisingly non-rubbish this year.
