The Missing tonight was very good looking forward to next episodes, but when Olly's dad (James Nesbitt) was showing photos of his missing son he was wearing the yellow scarf and he emphasised about him wearing it but the boy went missing after swimming with his dad and heading back to the hotel through the football crowd watching telly and he wasn't wearing a scarf or am I missing something!

It's an interesting point and one I pondered, but I think there are many more layers to come and they will include the mother, who now appears to be living with the 'liaison officer' they both chased through the streets to find it was not Olly but his own son, who is now older and living with them both, if you see what I mean ? Good start though.

He wasn't wearing the scarf after swimming but it may have been in his shoulder bag with his swimwear and towel?
It's got me hooked. Can somebody give us a reminder next week in case I forget please. James Nesbitt was very very good, especially when he saw the drawing on the wall in the cellar.
Khandro,

Thanks, didnt realize that was the liaison officer from a few years ago, but what I didnt get, was why would they move from what looked like a deluxe apartment to a modest house?

Or did I miss something again?
There’s no question that the eight-part series is one-to-watch as many clues were dropped in this first episode about what has happened in the eight-years since.
What has the dodgy French copper been up to with that British journalist? What dirt did they dig up on Tony and his father-in-law? And how did Baptiste hurt his leg?
Hmmm!
The scarf couldn't have been in the bag as the father found it when he was first looking for his son.
Flipping heck, some of you have noticed far more than I did! I missed half of these points you are all making, I must concentrate more or watch it again.
They went swimming in an open pool so it was clearly warm weather. Why did the boy need a scarf with him?
Is it going to be repeated before next week's episode does anybody know? I missed it unfortunately !
i cant see that its being shown again, apart from on iplayer

i thought it was off to a good start
Thanks fluff, my pc's a bit slow when it comes to iplayer which is why I was hoping it would be on TV again.
I really enjoyed this first episode - my only nitpick is I hate the constant switches between time zones, find it confusing but can see it's relevant for setting the scene (especially the mother who looks a completely different person 8 years later).
Where have I seen Frances O'Connor who plays the boy's mother, I've been racking my brains?
mrs selfridge :-)
Thanks for info ael but I have never watched Selfridge.
I recognise her too but not from Selfridge. Here's her imdb list
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0640323/
Thanks Prudie, finally I got it, I saw her in Mansfield Park.
We watched the first 15 minutes and then gave up and deleted the recording of future episodes, because we couldn't understand half of what they were saying, despite turning up the volume. Why do they have to mumble so much?

Bev mumbling and irritating background music is the worst crime against telly put the subtitles on and don't give up on The Missing as it is good and worth watching!
