Who has had their wicked way....?
"The Lords has more members than the European Parliament and is second only to the National People’s Congress of China in size."

In another few years, each of us will have his or her own personal lord.
I think she's a great choice.

What's the problem?
Karren with 2 Rs.....

Better than having Heredetaries, Luvvies, Suckers Up, ex Drug addict pop singers, failed MPs (Mandleson, Kinnocks etc), at least she has some talent.
Is it true that a member of the Lords can go there, sign in, go and dine in a subsidised restaurant, and collect hundreds of pounds as an an attendance fee?
Too true. They make shed loads of money doing that. And the booze is duty free. Don't ask me why!
Gromit....Like Black Cat, I am not sure what the objection is here. She did a very good job on The Apprentice and she seems a very level-headed lady. Wrong party of course ( ! ) but we can't have everything now can we ?
I think that the majority of the House of Lords should be pensioned off. Pensions to be means tested and given as pension credits of. Ourselves. They could keep their title and red robes to be hung on the wardrobe door. Karen Brady wouldn't stand for what she stands for now if she was in any other party Mikey.
lindapalmara...I used to think the same, years ago, when the HOL was packed with antediluvian old buffers, from the Shires. But the House has been hugely transformed in recent years, mainly started by the Labour Party under Blair. Its now mostly appointed and seems to be doing a very good job in preparing and debating legislation, and acts as a sea anchor on some of the more extreme House of Commons actions. The Lords is also much less partisan than the Commons, which can only be a good thing.

Brady seems a very capable person, and I look forward to seeing her make her mark.
what's the problem? successful lady, probably merits being there more than a lot of them.
100% agree TTT !

( we shall have to stop meeting like this ! )
