This was a 'pub conversation' earlier tonight. For me, I have to say that 'Blair Witch Project' was both the least scary and most irritating horror film I've ever a seen...even as a city boy, I would know that the best way to find my way out of a forest without a compass, is to follow the river...

As opposed to 'Paranormal Activity' which I am still unable to watch on my own with the lights off.

But are there any other horror films which left you feeling 'less than horrified'?

I saw Night of the Lupus in my 20s.

I assumed it was a joke.

Apparently not.

My nephew, who is 23 doesn't think that 'The Omen' is scary because to his generation, the special effects are ropy.

Cobblers.

Still pant-wettingly frightening.

But 'Salem's Lot'?

Absolutely un-scary.
As a 9 or 10 year old, i used to get the heeby jeebies watching The Human Jungle (Herbert Lom). Yet i would beg my parents to let me watch it each week.

As for 'horror films' The Evil Dead' was hilariously unscary.
All the Hammer horror films were dire. None of them were scary.
What, sandy, not even those rubber bats bobbing up and down on lengths of elastic?
I just laugh and laugh throughout Chucky films. Horror films actually bore me to death.
While I rate 'Psycho' as the scariest film of all time, Hitchcock's movies don't always make me feel that way. For me, 'The Birds' is totally unscary.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (1978) was described by Motion Picture Guide as "Though the idea sounds scary, actually sitting through nearly 90 minutes of it is enough to remind anyone how terrified they were when they watched The Attack of the 50-Foot Woman (1958).

Yes!

The birds...when Tippin Hendren is attacked in the attic by a flock of stuffed birds, thrown at her by a production assistant.

Hilarious.
'The blob' with the wonderful steve mcqueen takes some beating
The Exorcist I watched it for the first time a few years ago just to see what all the fuss was about, it was awful, I hate supernatural witchcrafty movies but I do think Psycho is scary!
I agree with The Exorcist, I saw it when it first came out. Somebody fainted in the cinema, it didn't scare me at all.
Blair Witch Project was dire
These so called Horror Films of old are more like Comedies
the exorcism itself is creepy with their breath turning to steam - one of those few films where you can feel the cold - and they're chanting "The power of Christ commands you" or something like that. But the head-spinning is just funny. (At least the deleted spider walk scene is physically plausible). I can't believe Mark Kermode thinks that's the best film ever made.

Wass there a river in Blair Witch Project? The sensible thing would be to rewind the video and look at the map.

Salem's Lot - when the dead boy appeared at the window it scared the pants off me. That was years ago and I still find it scary.
Drag me to Hell was a modern one that I found ridiculously stupid and unscary.
I never saw a remotely scary Hamemr film. Rosemary's Baby gave me the shivers, though.
I started watching Salem's Lot with my wife years ago. She was bored and went to bed, We had a glass pane in our lounge door, she gave it 5 minutes then began scratching on the door! I've never been so scared!
actually, though I was a big Kubrick fan, I thought The Shining was rubbish.
Yes I was very disappointed by the 'Blair Witch Project'

Not a sign of Cherie anywhere.
Sorry SP 'Paranormal Activity' I'm Still waiting for some thing to happen
