Sorry to bother you again over this but my original question has gone into 'room 101'

But the following is my latest post on the subject.

/// Sorry I have just noticed that one has to connect an input audio recording device such as a microphone. ///

/// The type of recording I wish to carry out is any sound coming out of my computers speakers, Freecorder allows one to do this, but attaches adverts
etc. ///

Have you tried using Audacity? It can be used to record sound from your computer but only if the configuration of your sound card (or onboard sound module) permits it. You need to see which sources are listed as available in the drop-down menu. (I've been able to use Audacity to record such audio on some computers but not on others. It's usually possible where there's a separate sound card fitted and occasionally possible where there isn't):

Thank you for that advice Buenchico.

I do have Audacity, but I have only used it to convert vinyl disc and cassette tapes recordings into MP3s, I have never tried recording sounds from my computer via it.
