Who do you think you are

How sad was the story about Greg Wallace's great-grandparents. No wonder he was choked up, so was I. He probably wishes he hadn't started the search - he started out all happy and excited to be doing it.

We watched, we thought it was really sad, so many tragedies in his family.

i didn't see it. However, i very very much doubt they don't find out stuff beforehand. After all, it would be a pretty boring programme unless there was something interesting in the family tree
Yes, it was a very sad story. And I was fascinated by the way the 'lunatic asylums' in Victorian times, started out as rather nice places to live, but gradually degenerated into hell-holes.
bednobs you are correct. I remember Parky did it a few years back but they cancelled it as nothing interesting had happened in his family history.
i missed it (not happy)
hope to get it on 'catch-up' tv.

looking forward to the patrick stewart edition.
There has been such a lot of bad luck in his family and I totally understand why he got choked up about things.
I watched on catch up this evening, forgot it was on. A very sad story, but
he said he was glad he had done it, and found out about is ancestors.

I think he has gone up a tad in my estimation too, I always thought him
slightly irritating.
The researchers approach 'slebs to see if they are interested in taking part.
If the answer is "yes" then there is a great deal of research undertaken to sniff out the 'interesting' stories. The *discoveries* may be new to the Subject and the episodes are heavily edited to heighten the sense of any revelations.

If, like, Parky there is not much to tell, then that particular strand is cancelled.
