No, I dont think they were referencing M&W. It was a small snippet of Mr. Bean, apparently a pretty popular export. I thought it well done and pretty funny, myself.
Yes I liked the Mr Bean bit, and he is certainly popular here in Spain but the Spanish have a slapstick sense of humour. They hated Fawlty Towers (Manuel was italian!)
Utter cr*p ! take yourself seriously once in a while. like when you put on the Olympics show to the rest of the world . What do they know about Mr Bean ?
Believe us thenry, Mr BEan is one of our buggest exports and an international star. There's no language barrier with his mime style of humour and as a result he's known to people all around the world.
@ thenry - as others here have mentioned, Mr. Bean has been a popular export around the globe. The character is one of those that people will either love or loathe, but the character is iconic ,with the mini and the teddy bear.
I would think that many watching around the globe will get and enjoy the reference.
OK. Rowan was great on Not the Nine O Clock News and vg on The Thin Blue Line BUT when he started on Bean and English he fell slightly into disrepair and became a bit Carry On ! Admittedly Bean was OK for a while but he should not have represented us as a nation. We should turn to Basil Fawlty and Alan Partridge on these occasions ! PS - up to the T's !
