I know that Stephen Fry's gadgets clashed partly with BGT but if anyone saw it, who would have thought out of all the 100 gadgets, the one that came top was the simple cigarette lighter.
The one gadget that I thought was amazing was the Apple Peeler, which not only peeled the apple but it also cored it and sliced it at the same time.
I remember when I watched the prog the first time round how disappointed and let down I felt that a b****y lighter came top! I mean, A LIGHTER!

Just like early man, you would find it the most useful gadget if you were isolated in the wilderness and wanted to light a fire so as to keep warm and cook your meal catches.
Whereas a computer, TV, DVD player, games machine etc, etc, would be of no use whatsoever.

But early man would have struggled to get it refilled, making it too of no use whatsoever in a short space of time! A magnifying glass would have been more appropriate if we're going to include the neanderthal period.
