How many are there meant to be sinc? I thought it was just THE Bradshaw's Guide!

Bradshaw goes back a long way and there seem to be various incarnations of it.

He did say at the beginning of the series, I can't remember, but I know it is an early one.

bradshaws yearly railway guides contain no tourist info they are timetables and advertising

He occasionally uses a later version if it includes a place he wants to visit and it wasn't mentioned in the original.

It does look pretty fragile (& looks like he's always reading the entries from the same page). Perhaps he's not allowed to turn the pages!

Bradshaw published Tourist Guides as well as railway timetables. These went through many editions as content was revised to keep up to date.
According to this http://www.waterstone...&typeAheadFormSubmit= Michael Portillo mostly used the 1866 edition, but for those railways not then built, he used later editions. |

it turns out that bradshaws tourist handbook is in four volumes
perhaps this explains the different look to the book |

VHG - I bought my husband this from Amazon costs £7.50 and he has read it from cover to cover as he followed the TV series. Its well worth buying, very good value, but one thing to note - the print is a little small.

I hope he is going to do another series.
The things I learnt about the different towns, villages and the history's of some of stories in the UK was amazing. |
