Until yesterday when I watched a video the others suggested on the right were all similar (very useful and regularly used, saved a search) except the top one, but now they are all advertising videos. Is this how Youtube are now able to allow all users unlimited video length despite wrecking the experience for everyone?

It works as it always did, for me - i.e. I get a list of similar videos down the right side of the page.
Me too. While I believe the recommended length for videos is 10 minutes, I have seen some that are over an hour long.

I've been on for 6 years and for the first time all the videos down the right were nearly all from advertisers selling interiors and other products, now some are mixed in but for a few days had little else. I think they must be phasing it in gradually and seeing how much they can get away with before people start noticing. It happened for quite a few days so clearly something's being tested quietly.

Yep, this is certain now. By my video is leading interiors, 6X eco rubbish collection, a nanny agency, a gym, acupuncture, electricians, herbal tea, self storage, Paramount Property, flat for sale. OK, I understand they now allow unlimited time videos but I'd prefer to have an easy way to watch similar videos to what I'm watching and there are only a few as the rest are just ads. I'm amazed I'm the only person to have complained about it, doesn't it ruin things for anyone else?
I've just uploaded a vid for the first time and noticed that it had changed. Thought it was cos of my vid!!!

Ah, it's slowly being rolled out- probably not so everyone will notice at the same time and and cause a revolution. I know we don't pay to use it but not sensible to ruin it and probably put off many people who only joined to watch from bothering altogether as they've lost most of the related topic links now.

I'd have thought there's so much room each side they could run the ads down the other side and still keep one for proper videos.
