If I had to guess, I would say It is Alan Ladd.
I'm afraid you will have to guess, as I'm certainly not sure. And I don't know what film.
I think it may be Dennis O'Keefe.
His name came straight to me when I saw that pic. Couldn't find a photo as good as the one you show here jno but I think it is him.

I don't believe it's Spencer Tracy, Alan Ladd or Dan Duryea. To me he has the look of Sam Neill, but if this is actually a forties or fifties picture, then I think that rabbittygirl is the nearest. Not a great pic, but still dying to know who it is!

rabbitygirl is right.
It's Dennis O'Keefe as Agent Dennis O'Brien in 'T-Men'(1947). As you can see from the 7m 41sec clip near the bottom of the page, despite the gloom, he's easily identified by the same stripey tie he's wearing in your photo.

I did think it was that film but didn't want to push my luck!

Ooooh what's she won then??? ;O) Well done Rabbity, never heard of him....

Thanks max, getting in right is prize enough! For my age I have a weird knowledge of stars from way back. I have a good collection of film books from the 40's thru to the 60's.
