Are you all stumped by this question? Help

I saw a movie at a drive in theatre around 1973, a romantic comedy.

One of the main characters was recently divorced and he was left standing in his underpants, as his only belongings.

Being single again he was driving and he thought that a girl was waving at him. Very interested he returned the wave only to find out that she was only waving to get his attention to tell him he had a flat tire. I would like to find and view this movie again but I can't remember the title.
