the iron has just made a phut noise and blown a fuse in the box.

is this a sign that I should never do any more ironing?

or should I just go and get another iron?

See how long you can last without one - I have managed approx 15 years so far.

I've managed for about 10 !
Phut means no more ironing. I don't iron anything at all. Hang trousers and tops on hangers when washed, flatten out bedding etc. I don't have any little children, so I don't have school uniforms to do.
I've managed about 18 years. I do have an iron though just in case and dad has his own. I don't like his and he doesn't like mine!
Whats an iron?
What about shirts?
Damn, you need an iron.
If you hang the shirt on a hanger on the washing line it looks good enough
Couldn't do that. I avoid ironing as much as possible but some things have to ironed. Shirts is def one of them.
It's not a problem for me, OH does his own (he has his own house and I have mine)!
golf shirts on hangars are fine - any other shirts (worn only occasionally) can go into Johnson's - as did my cobalt blue one this morning, the one that I wore to this Provencal wedding this past weekend.
I love ironing....especially shirts......I'd almost.....just almost....marry again so I have shirts to iron..... :-)
Viv - what a perfect setup!! On holiday we were given single beds, I haven't slept so well in years :-)
Shirts have to be ironed - you need that nice crease down the sleeve and the collar needs ironing flat!

Some trousers also need ironing like chino's or slacks!
And linen ones...I have lots of linen trousers, typical...
My son never irons anything much to my horror!!!
Last time I got my iron out (something had got squished in the wardrobe) - I'm ashamed to say it had a cobweb on it.

I don't have anyone at home who wears shirts now.
It works for us ummmm. We always spend weekends together, usually here because son has his bedroom and all his things here. I would HATE to share a bed every night in this heat ....
Viv........that is perfect......now I could live with that....bliss.....x
Doesn't Helena Bonham Carter and her husband live next door to each other? I'm sure I read an article saying it's because the have completely different tastes in decor.
