Short film about a daily lift ride

I may have asked this same question some time ago but I can't find it, so apologies if it is a repeat.

I'm after the title of a short film that I saw in the 1970s (probably) so that it's at least that old, and it's about a man who takes a lift ride each day on his way to work. To relieve the boredom he does something minor, maybe unbuttons his jacket and then does it up again; the next day he does that again and a bit more, and gradually builds up his routine day by day until finally he acts out a whole day's living in the time it takes for the lift to get to the ground floor. I won't spoil the ending but you can probably guess what happens.

Anyone know the title of that film?

Was it a foreign film? Sounds French to me.

As far as I remember, there was no dialogue so it may have been.
