Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

The New York Times say Katie secretly bought an apartment. I believe she has also included a clause in the custodial agreement that there will be restrictions on Suri's involvement in Scientology. This suggests that Katie finds it as controversial as many other people. I personally don't know enough about Scientology to make a judgement but I saw that Panorama documentary a few years ago and I've read that as a member you have to contribute vast sums of money in order to acquire further knowledge/enlightenment, this is morally questionable don't you think?

What is Tom Cruise like, I've always liked him as an actor and he adores his fans which is also endearing but is there a darker side?

No idea, it's their business - but I know something of Scientology (from its early days 40-odd years ago), and it is quite controlling.

I like Tom Cruise as an actor, he's done some cracking films! I don't know him personally (no, really, i honestly don't!) but he does seem a bit of a basket case, but ive never been that interested to find much out about his personal life.

Scientology seems odd, weird and downright scary to me, but hey, if it amuses him, he's not harming anyone, let him get on with it!

As for Katie Holmes, I'm afraid, i've not much sympathy for her. Surely she knew what she was getting when she got with him? She had ample time to suss him out before she married him. All in all, she seems to have done ok out of him, after all, how many other Dawson Creek stars do we still hear of? ;-)

who is to say what goes on behind closed doors - tbh Katie sounds like she went from mummy and daddy controlling her to Tom doing the same thing!! I applaud her for getting out now and ensuring her child does not suffer the same as Tom's other children who no longer speak to their mother!!

I find it strange that a bright intelligent man would let a church take over his life in such a way but perhaps something bad had previously happened and this is how he finds peace and comfort.

He seems OK as an actor in some films, but I don't really think much of him as a person. (probably clouded from some newspaper report from years ago)

Yes, it's interesting. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in his house. What did you read about him Alba? I didn't know his other children don't speak to their Mum any more, in fact I didn't even know him and Nicole even had children.

You're right of course, Katie surely would have known what she was getting into. Or maybe he saw her one day and, to quote Papa Lazarou said 'your my wife now....'

when i met him (1986) he seemed quite amiable, and certainly polite and a real treat to talk to.
however, i did not know then about the scientology - and i'm not certain now whether he was a member back then.

John Sweeney the reporter wrote a piece in the paper last week about them. He had run in with a number of Scientology bigwigs, and found that
they had him followed, and caused him any number of problems. They are creepy.
