Shawshank Redemption ?

Ok, having watched this film yet again I have a problem.

Andy escapes through a hole in his cell wall, which is covered by a large poster of Raquel Welch.

After he has gone through the hole (about 18" diameter)how does he then manage to stick the poster which looks looks to be about 2.5 to 3 feet wide and about 5 feet high, which is roughly centralised over the hole, back down on the wall ?

I think it was only held up by tack or something on the top corners and not the bottom corners. There was a clip of him scraping away under the poster while it was hanging up.

It's a fantastic film nevertheless.

He just did - somehow ! God awlmighty, what do you have to do to make a good film ? I bet you used to go string-spotting when Flash Gordon was on!
You don't actually see that the poster is stuck down at the bottom. It could just be hanging there.
When Andy steals the governor's shoes he says something about people not looking at other people's feet, yet the cameraman filmed them all the way down the cell block corridor!!
Are you having a laugh Wharton?
One of my all time favourite films..............but then I watched it to enjoy it, not nitpick it.
yes chrissa!!
Thank the lord for that. Lol.
Question Author
who's nitpicking, it was just something that puzzled me when watching it.
It isn't stuck down, when the Governor throws the Chess pieces at the poster, the bottom flicks up, so it has just dropped over the hole. The question should be as it isn't stuck down why is it not moving. :-)
It's been claimed that when the warden throws the rock through the poster on the morning after Andy's escape, the poster appears to be stuck to the wall at all corners, raising the question of how Andy could have re-stuck the poster from inside the tunnel. However, as shown in a later (flashback) shot, the poster is attached at the top two corners allowing it to be lifted like a curtain while Andy works behind it. With the poster mounted in this fashion, the only requirement for the poster returning to the proper position - after Andy makes his escape - is simple gravity.
