brought a lump to my throat ... again

just watched ET on the telly.

the departure at the ending has moved me, again. it is one of only two movie sequences that has had this effect on me.

part of it is primarily the superb music score by john williams.

as a movie buff - i think soundtracks are a vital part of any film, and i have my favourites (1) james horner (2) jerry goldsmith (3) john williams (4) maurice jarre. and so on
there are, of course many more superb composers.

anybody else have favourite movie composers?

Ghost, Unchained Melody.
Burt Bacharat,

Chariots of Fire Vangelis the best soundtrack ever.
That was nice Purple P.
Ennio Morricone. Although his score for "The Thing" works brilliantly in the film but sounds pretty dire if you play it for 50 minutes on your CD player.

Jerry Goldsmiths "Planet of the Apes" was in the same boat as well.
Yann tiersen - amelie.
