Cabin In The Woods

Has anyone seen this?

After hearing a Sky review, I am intrigued but not a horror fan at all. The Reviewer highly recommended the film, even for those who don't like horror. It is supposed to be really different.....the only thing is that I am home alone this weekend....but I have the urge to go and watch it....if I get the guts I may go for a daytime showing.

If seen, please let me know on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being hardcore horror, how scary is it really?

I saw it midweek expecting something greater than the sum of its parts but found it to be less than any one of them. So, as a film, I currently only give it 5/10; however, it seems that I am in the minority - maybe I'll mellow, given time.

But, as a horror film, it's about the same as The Evil Dead (OTT physical effects, not much in the way of shocks) which would probably make it an 8 on your scale (judging by the wording of your question).

p.s. Evil Dead I and II are amongst my favourite films but I wouldn't call them particularly scary.
I'll wager your avatar is scarier than the film, bibble.

That thing is horrendous.... ;-)
jolly good, maybe it's a keeper

Agree NoMercy...I'm gurgitating looking at Bibble's avatar...sorry!

I still don't know, I am in two minds about this one. A read one review just now on a cinema site and it used the words, 'bloody', 'slasher' and 'one of the scariest.' You see, daytime I want to see it but evening time, I am too damn scared.

And you right Bibble, I haven't seen any of the films you mention...wouldn't even go near 'The Evil .....'

I think tomorrow I will either go or stay, a last minute decision.... Sometimes we have to be brave...

No, I am going to give it a miss. I can't bear two weeks of running to and from the bathroom and leaving all the lights on when I try my best to help the environment...and constantly looking behind me.

Thanks for feedback
bibblebub, Evil dead III (Army of Darkness) is one of the funniest films I've seen, a forgotten gem... I'll have to see that again.
Arksided - I've recently bought and watched all 3 films on Blu-Ray (having owned the DVDs for several years) and I still find Army Of Darkness to be a bit of a let-down - that's not to say that I didn't enjoy it.
Great film. Funny a bit scary and minimum gore.
A true revalation in the genre of horror films.
