Tell you the truth I don't know, I loved Alien & Aliens.

I so hope it isn't just a cash in
Question Author
So did I but Ridley Scott who did the first one is keeping pretty quiet about it but its being rumoured its prequel... leading up-to the first Alien movie.

...and also hope it's not a cash-in.
Well that there picture looks much like "The Space Jockey" to me.

However given Alien, can we guess the end of the picture?
Looks pretty cool to me.

I always wished there had been more on the original occupant of the ship that sent the distress signal that started the who 'Alien' thing going.

I love the concept of aliens that simply regard us and our planet as a food and mineral source, it's more likely than the little green men who always land in a meadow, never in Times Square!
"anyone else looking forward to this as much as me? "

Me!
Looks good. I can't see Ridley Scott making a bad job of it.

andy-hughes, ... or some dusty road in outback America, with their probes on stand-by.

If they ever did come here any realist would know we'd have no chance if we were food.
Arksided - Of course wed have a chance - We have got Sigourney Weaver and Will Smith on our side :-)
Question Author
Doh! what was I thinking...of course we do. lol
''I always wished there had been more on the original occupant of the ship that sent the distress signal''

Me too.

The best of a pretty bland batch of upcoming summer releases...
Question Author
Summer releases are usually aimed at the children's market, so I expect a few sequels as well as 'Pirates' ;-)

It's been a long time since I've really being looking forward to a movie.
I was surprised to see that it is only the 10th most anticipated film of the summer in a poll.

It is not an alien prequel however although they have said that it could eventually tie-in to the original alien film.

I read that as it could/should have been a prequel but then the money men intervened as they would only get 1 film out of what could be a new franchise.
Question Author
Ah I see, that makes more sense why it seemed odd, ties in with 'Alien' but not a direct prequel (Money...of course) thanks for the info.

Only tenth... do you have a link to the poll?
''Only tenth... do you have a link to the poll?''

Depends which poll you look at:

I'm looking forward to seeing this and Wrath of the Titans.
It was an IMDB poll snags and I see that it is now number 2.
I guess it gained in popularity as it gets closer to release.
With the impending movie release, all things 'Alien' are again hot property. These limited edition promotional Easter eggs will be worth a fortune:
