'The Outcasts', 1982, dir. Robert Wynne-Simmons

I've been trying to get hold of a copy of this beautiful film for years, and regularly search Amazon, Blockbusters, eBay, etc. to no avail.

It's an Irish film, set in the early 19th century, about a girl suspected of being a witch, and has wonderful haunting music throughout and eerie cinematography. It was shown in small independent cinemas and also, I think, on Channel 4.

Were it not for the fact that it's on IMDb, I'd begin to think that I imagined it, as no one else seems to have heard of it!

Anyone any ideas as to where I could get hold of a dvd or even vhs?

Thanks for your reply, grasscarp. I've had another look on Amazon, and can find two dvds with similar titles - 'The Outcast' and 'Outcasts', but not the one I'm after. It may be that I'm not looking properly though (it has been known!), so if you can find it, could you send over the link, please?

I so want to get hold of this film, but it seems to have vanished without a trace.

I hope that they are of some help. I googled the director's name plus the film title, and I got a lot of information, but hardly any of it seems to be what you want.

Thanks, everyone. So many suggestions - brilliant! At least it's proved that the film does exist and isn't a figment of my fevered imagination. I'll give all those a try.

Just had another look at the IMDb site, and somebody said they got a copy from the Irish Film Council for £40! Fourty quid?! Stuff that - not sure that I want to see it that much!
