Whilst I was looking out of my lounge window this morning, I saw a large car pull up at the end of my drive. The driver held up a camera, took a picture of the house and the drive and then drove off.
My daughter, who was returning from a run said that she saw a car driving slowly up the road, pass our house and then turn round to obviously take the picture.
Anyone have any ideas what it could have been for and is it sinister?
I wasn't sure where to post this.

Maybe they are doing work on their own house and like something about yours and want a pic to show someone?
maybe they like your curtains!!
;-)
Your house isn't for sale or rent or anything like that or recently been?

Anyone been involved in anything legal or police or press related?

I'd be freaked out by this!
I don't think there is anything you can do about it. I agree it is unnerving and it has happened to us.
Do you have a particularly nice house? Something like a character cottage someone might have seen as photogenic?

Anyone famous (or infamous) used to live there? Could be they used to live there. My dad is after getting a photo of him outside the house he was born in but he is liaising with the estate owners (it's on a farm and old rather than posh) to get proper access.

Was it a normal everyday digital kind of camera or something more professional looking?

I'm researching my family tree and try to take photographs of any houses connected to my family.
Or a utilities company or similar for future work?
Try not to worry. There is probably a very simple explanation as others have pointed out.
The google camera car with a budget cut?

Thanks for all your answers folks. There's nothing about our house that makes it stand out policewise or famous personwise. It's not a beautiful house although it's detached and has a large garden. Could it be a developer looking to buy the land and knock my little house down? We live in a nice village.
Could be....
It may be an MI5 close target recconaissance, prior to a raid going down on your house. Quick flush the drugs and burn the terrorist training manuals...
i'd agree with Jack, many people take photos of their old houses for family trees etc. Mr CRX has a photo, taken recently, of the home he lived in as a very young child because his dad made some special gates for it in the 70s and they are still there now.
WAS YOU NAKED AT THE WINDOW !

Ha Ha, bobjugs. Listen, I didn't do drugs even in the Swinging 60's, so it's not that.
And no I wasn't naked!! Not a pretty sight.
I was planning on going and taking a photo of a house near me for a friend - she grew uo there. Could be something as simple as that.

True true karen, but we've lived here for 20 years now.
My dad is 60 and he is only just wanting a picture of the house he was born in, well, doing something about having one taken anyway. He hasn't lived there for well over 50 years.

Could any neighbour have any kind of potential dispute about access or anything like that?
Chrissa, it's over 25 years since my pal lived in the house I'm going to photograph.
