cancelled direct debit problems

good day

I am in a pickle with carphone warehouse insurance company, I faxed a letter to say that i wanted to cancel my insurancve in feb 07, this id not arrive so i sent a letter and then called a week later to be told that they have the letter. I went for a review of my accounts with my bank yesterday and found out that they have been taking £29.99 every 3 months... may, aug, nov, feb they have had 6 payments from me and i am really angry and quite frankly out of pocket. Is thre anything i can do about this? Thanks in advance T x

Crikey do you not check your bank statements!
The best thing to do is go straight to carphone warehouse.
It's probably just an error with their system and they should refund the money.

But make sure to tell them to stop taking money straight away, and cancel the direct debit with your bank.

I had a contract with Carphone Warehouse which included insurance for the first three months. I just stopped the direct debit at the bank, and had no problem.

The contract included redemptions and getting those cheques from them was very difficult, so I wish you good luck in getting a refund. To get a reply to any letters you will probably have to write to the chief executive.

Lesson learned there, really, you should be checking your bank statements more often. Online banking is easy and I check mine on a daily basis, it takes about 2 minutes
