very much depends what you actually get prosecuted for. You could be charged with an offence under the telecommunications act re sending obscene/annoying texts, or an offence under Section 5 of the Public Order Act if it is deemed to have been threatening. Both offences would probably lead to a fine, but very much depends on the charge, the circumstances, and your previous convictions etc.

They first have to 'prove' you actually sent these so called 'threatening' texts. Very difficult as if you left your phone around at work or with friends anyone could have picked it up and sent texts without you knowing from YOUR phone.
