common assault

Involved in a domestic argument whereby I slapped my ex-partner and was in a public place. Another girl was involved and she phoned the police. There were cctv camera's there and the police took me in for questioning and charged me with breach of the peace and assault. My ex-partner didnt want charges to be processed but the police said they cant re-tract now. What will happen when I have to go to court? I am worried sick and don't know what to do.

A man who lives near me recently got fined £300 for slapping a woman in the street.

Good! its violence at the end of the day if my ex partner slapped me in the street i would want him to be fined or prosecuted!! nowadays people get away with so much.. im not saying you are violent and go round hitting people but someone once slapped me in the street for crossing over infront of them and the police did nothing makes me sick
