My son and his girlfriend are separating after living together for 2 years. Their house is in joint names although my son paid mortgage. Girlfriend has agreed on a settlement to be paid within 3 months. Can anyone help in wording a letter to get her to sign agreeing to accept that as final settlement and she won't then come back and make a claim on the property? Thanks for your time

She could sign and then come back later to ask for a better settlement. That's why, unfortunately, we should resort to a solicitor.

Thank you. Was hoping he might be able to avoid the extra expense in the meantime but probably safest to get everything done properly.
