I've just opened a letter from Essex police. Apparently I've been caught doing 58mph in a 50mph zone on M25 near the Dartford Crossing. I remember the day - I'd dropped teen Smow at his dads and on way back my IBS started playing up with really bad stomach cramps and I was panicking as that's the sign I'm going to need a bathroom - very very soon!! I was worried sick I wasn't going to make it home as I know as soon as I get to the crossing I have 40 mins of driving left. I honestly didn't realise I'd gone over the limit though. Letter doesn't say what the fine or points will be so does anybody know?? It just encloses a form for me to admit or deny I was driver and to give my license details. What a start to the weekend : (

mrs c got 3 points and £100 fine last year for speeding
£100 fine and 3 points. You may get the opportunity to do a speed awareness course - around £100 and no points
as a fellow ibs sufferer you have my sympathy, at least you weren't stopped by a policeman and grilled for an hour on the dangers of speeding ...

Don't worry about it too much, it's not a serious infringement and you may just get a warning.
I do like an optimist but Smow will not get off with a warning
Try and plead the Alex Ferguson defence, he got away with speeding because he needed the loo, he was proportionally far more over the limit. Luckily he could afford a dodgy defence lawyer.
accept it pay up move on IMO
Smow has a decent defence; will she get a chance to present it to anyone, or do they make it too costly to do so?

I got caught a few weeks ago. £100 fine and three points or a speed awareness course. I took the course. It cost me £84. No points, no conviction. Actually I found it quite interesting.
Oh I forgot to say, the 'course' was only four hours long.
