Is there such a thing in the U.S.? My 90 year old Aunt lives in Ohio in a Care Facility. She is British with a British Passport. She has a "friend" who is the American equivalent of a Power of Attorney. She is convinced she is being "ripped off". She never sees her Bank Statements and does not know the name of her Bank or Account Number. Her POA does not visit very frequently and although she has asked to see her Bank Statement, the POA never brings them.

My aunt is in a wheel chair and cannot walk. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who knows any USA bureau that could help her. She has her own phone. I am in the U.K.

Thank you.

tHANK YOU VERY MUCH, WILL GIVE IT A TRY.
Contact them As Soon As Jam.
Has she talked to the care facility management? In the UK they would have a 'duty of care', is it the same in the USA?
good luck jamjar let us know how you get on
Who appointed the POA 'friend' or is I similar to the UK situation where the courts can appoint a random person, can't recall the name, for a person who is judged incapable of managing their own affairs?
Have you considered getting in touch with the nearest British Consulate/ Embassy They may be able to help a British citizen.
The British Consulate in Atlanta handles Ohio

Details including phone number on link. Talking to them could be a very good idea, even if they can't help directly they should be able to offer suggestions.
Sorry Chicago not Atlanta !
