Went to Padstow today, so busy, hundreds of people milling around and every other one had a dog, or in most cases two or three of them. You could hear people commenting on the amount of dogs. Very difficult to park, all car parks full, took us ages to find a spot on double yellow lines using my blue badge.
Had lunch at Rick Steins restaurant. Very good but so expensive. We spent almost £100. But we did have a gift card for that amount, Christmas present from daughter.
The weather has change, very windy, grey and cold, so much for the Indian summer we were promised.

Is Rick still trying to take over everything in Padstow, Caran. Everytime I go to Padstow he seems to have taken over a little bit more.
Still love the place though, will be down there next month.
We went there a few years ago and enjoyed a birthday meal at Ricks - as you say expensive but the whole experience was very good - and the box of assorted pasties to take back to our holiday let at Sennen Beach

We didn't get a box of assorted pastries CAC.
It's changed immeasurably over the years, when we went Rick had only the one restaurant.
Long time ago, Mamya.
Yes it was.
I'm not sure if he even had one restaurant when I first went to Padstow
(1980).
The last time I went to Padstein, about 12 years ago, I recall driving round and round and round, desperately try to find somewhere to park, without much success until mid afternoon.

I stopped outside his restaurant but quickly decided that I couldn't afford to eat here.

We ended up in his delicatessen, where I bought a very small jar of chutney, that was admittedly very nice, but hardly worth the money paid.

Nice place but spoiled by the completely ruined by the Stein connection.
