Hi, i'm due to receive an inheritence soon, how does this get paid, does it go through a solicitor to be passed on equally as is intended by cheque or does the lump sum go to the executors for them to do with what the deceased requested? Many thanks in advance.

It goes to the executors who are legally bound to distribute the money according to the terms of the will.
My wife got a cheque from the solicitor who was handling the estate, but nearly 2 years after the death of her uncle who left her the money.
Eddie - the solicitor was probably the executor
Yes, sorry that's what I meant.
If the executor is a solicitor then he will gather in the assets and distribute the appropriate share to each beneficiary

If the executor is an individual/s then he/they will have gathered in the assets to distribute
